Heber J. Grant

Kael has had the prophets memorized since right after he turned two. He was obsessed with things like when he was younger. He could sing the prophet song and also say the prophets names in order. Then we got out pictures of the prophets and taught him who was who. At first we thought that he had just memorized them in order, but when we started to mix up the pictures he could find the person and match their picture to their name. For some reason he has always really liked Heber J. Grant. Once we were in the mall in Logan and an elderly man walked by. He was somewhat bald and had glasses on. I think he was actually the custodian at the mall if I remember right. He walked past and smiled at us and Kael got so excited. He looked up at me and yelled "MOMMY! LOOK! IT'S HEBER J. GRANT!!" It was hilarious.

So that brings us to tonight. When President Hinckley passed away we tried to explain the whole situation to Kael. He seemed to understand pretty well. He told me a couple of times that President Hinckley died because he was old. Tonight I was laying in bed with him waiting for him to fall asleep. He kept putting the blanket over his face and I kept telling him not to do it. He asked me why and I told him that if he did that he wouldn't be able to breathe. He said "Why do I need to breathe?" I told him that if he didn't breathe that he would die. He said "Oh, like President Hinckley died when he was old." I said "Yah, because when we get old we die and then we go to live with Heavenly Father." "I don't want to go live with Heavenly Father, I want to stay here with you." he said. "Good, I want you to stay here with me too." I told him, "but when we die we will all go live with Heavenly Father together." He was quiet for a minute and then he looked at me all excited and said "Will Heber J. Grant live with us too??" I said "I guess he probably will." He just smiled and said "Great, that will be fun!" I don't know why he likes him so much, but it can't be a bad thing??!! I hope Kael grows up living his life so that when he is "really really old" he can meet his best buddy Heber J., then he'll know he made it to the right place.

Hi Stephanie! I was so excited to hear from you. Of course I remember you although I don't know if we met. You and Joseph have such a beautiful family! It's great to hear what the Johnson boys are doing. I bet that is such a fun family to be part of.
