So I realize that I am a slacker and that I need to update my blog, I am just good at finding other things to do I guess! Things here are going good. We have gotten back into our routine of school and things and we some of us are looking forward to Kael's 5th birthday that is coming up next week. I say some of us because I AM NOT! I am NOT old enough to have a 5 year old. Of course I am not old enough to have three kids and live in Omaha either, but I do. Yesterday I was talking with one of my friends here about high school. I got out some pictures of when Joseph and I were dating and I realized that the date on them was 1998!! HOLY COW! That was only 11 years ago! I was already feeling bad for myself when she informed me that in 1998 she was still in grade school. I am reconsidering our friendship! We are also having a Pokemon party. Something that I am also NOT looking forward too, but what can you do??!
My kids have been on a kick of doing and saying really funny things lately. Yesterday when I went to pick up Aidan from school one of his teachers showed me the start of a big blue bruise developing on the side of his face. This was the story that went with it....she said...."I went to the bathroom for a minute and when I came back Aidan was crying. I asked him what happened. (for those of you who know Aidan you know that he doesn't talk much.) He took her hand and led her across the room to a partition. Then he proceeded to say "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!!" and then fell head first into the partition!! I guess he thought that she REALLY wanted to know what happened to him. She said she felt so bad but that she couldn't stop laughing at him.
Then we move on to Kael. I can't even tell you how many times during the day I just have to bite my lip and not laugh at him. Here are this weeks funny stories......
At Aidan's school they have a huge statue of Abraham Lincoln in the foyer. One day he asked me who it was so I told him that it was Abraham Lincoln and that he was the president of the United States. He asked me for a few more days who it was and then would say "Oh yah! I remember!" So pretty soon he started saying "Mom, that is Abraham Lincoln! He is the president of the United States!" I was so proud of him! One day I said "He was the president of the United States, but not anymore because he died" This was the wrong thing to say.....Kael burst into tears! I reassured him that it was okay....that he had died a long time ago....and that we had a new president. He asked me who it was and I said "Barack Obama" "WHAT???? Who is it?" "Barack Obama" I repeated. "A ROCK Obama!! Ha....is he a rock type Pokemon??" I just laughed. The next day we were walking into the school and he stopped in front of one of the teachers and said "That is Abraham Lincoln....he's dead. Don't worry though because now we have A Rock Obama....he's a rock type Pokemon....you should get a statue of him!!" The teacher just laughed and told Kael that Barack Obama wasn't quite famous enough for a statue yet!!
At the beginning of the year Kael had to move to a different class in Primary. This was going to be a devastating thing because he LOVES Sister Cline. Don't worry....things are going way better than I thought. He now has two new teachers Brother Clemens and Brother Gillo. Brother Gillo is from Africa and has very very black skin. He is so nice and so patient with Kael. Kael is fascinated with him. He always wants to sit by him and give him five repeatedly. On Sunday I was sitting close to them when I saw Kael staring at the back of Brother Gillo's hand and then flipping it over and looking at the palm of his hand. He did this five or six times and then finally asked "Brother Gillo?? Why did you shave the dark off of this side of your hand??!!" Brother Gillo was laughing so hard that he had tears in his eyes. I wanted to crawl under the seat. Don't worry, I tried to explain everything to Kael when we got home and told him that some people just have darker skin than other people. Now he's mad because he doesn't have darker skin.
Here are some of our pictures from the past few weeks....
Owen playing in the recycling. Joseph is trying to save the world one milk carton at a time, which is great except that we don't have our own recycling cans. We just take it to the corner every Tuesday morning so we have to keep it in our house until then and Owen thinks it is his own personal box of toys!
Aidan and Owen with Lily (or Louey as Kael calls her) and Ruby. The four of them were terrorizing our kitchen one day. This is after they spilled a whole bowl of dry cereal on the floor and then they were eating it.
Owen and Lilly I think (or Ruby). He kept bringing her all of the unopened pop and she was pretending to drink it.
