More Adventures in Nebraska

We are just keeping busy around here! Everyday there is a new adventure, whether it was planned or not! In the last few days we have gone to see Joseph's school, we went to the circus in Iowa, and we survived our first tornado!! Like I said....a new adventure everyday!

Here we are looking at Joseph's locker. Kael thought this was the best part of the whole school!
Especially because he and Aidan could get inside!!
Here is one of the labs at the school. There was another one where they work on patients, but there were people in there so I was afraid to take a picture. Kael kept asking when we were going to see a dentist!
The front of the building. They don't really have an official sign in front so this will have to do!
A big fountain and sculpture on the main campus of Creighton.
The big cathedral on campus. Creighton is a Catholic Jesuit school. Kael looked at it and said..."That is either a temple or a castle for good knights!"

I finally got a picture of Rosenblatt stadium. It is only a few blocks from our house. The college world series starts next week!!

Then we went to the circus.....
Owen (sleeping in the chair), Kael, Mommy, and Aidan at the circus
Kael and Daddy waiting for the circus

Some of the random performers at the circus
This girl in front of us kept making her boyfriend buy her a ton of goofy things. Poor guy! Cotton Candy was $12.00 so I imagine he was broke by the end of the night. She made him buy her a crown and a clown mask and then she kept turning around and puttin them on Kael and Aidan. Here is Aidan with the crown. And Kael in the clown mask! They are also both sporting Creighton T-shirts from the bookstore. Owen has one too, but you can't see his!
We ended up leaving the circus early because the boys were worn out and hungry. When we walked outside it was POURING rain!! We got soaked just walking to the car and it wasn't parked very far away! We ate dinner and got the kids to bed and settled in to watch LOST. Our friends Rob and Amanda are hooked on it so they lent us the first season and we are hooked. We watch a few episodes every night after the boys are in bed! Anyway...we watched LOST until around 1:00 in the morning. We went upstairs and the wind was blowing a little and it was raining, but nothing any worse than it has done almost every other night. We went to bed and around 2:30 something woke me up. The wind was blowing SO hard (according to the weather channel it got up to between 110 and 137mph) and it was POURING rain. I layed there for a minute and then I heard it.....the TORNADO SIRENS!! It was really faint and sounded far away, but I could hear it. (For anyone from Brigham it sounds exactly like the old fire sirens that used to go off around town. Except 500 times louder, it makes your ears ring it is so loud) I woke Joseph up and we grabbed all three kids and our pillows and blankets and headed for the basement. Kael and Owen went right back to sleep, but Aidan decided it was time to play. He wanted to play with all of the toys in the toy room. We turned on the TV and watched the updates. Then the siren by our house went off. This time it was SO loud! We just hung out in the basement watching the weather channel until they said that the storm had passed. It was scary, but exciting. The tornado did touch down in Omaha, but it was on the west side and we are all the way on the east. We decided to just spend the rest of the night in the basement instead of hauling the kids back upstairs. Aidan didn't go back to sleep until 5:00 in the morning, but other than that it wasn't too bad. When Kael woke up he asked us why we were in the basement. Joseph told him that we went down there because there was a tornado. He responded with "You're a tornado Dad!" It doesn't bother me that he doesn't understand....that is one less thing for him to be afraid of! He did ask repeatedly last night if we could all sleep in the basement again and he was really mad when we said no! But don't worry...we are safe and can now say that we have survived a tornado!

Ok.. I had to check back to check on you guys when I read about a tornado in Nebraska. :) Exciting huh! I HATE, hate, hate the sound of those sirens. I have nightmares because of them. Good Luck!
