Just an Update...

Well we are settling into life in Omaha. There is a lot more to get used to than I thought. These are a few of the main differences of our life here in Omaha......

1. We go to church and go grocery shopping in Iowa. Our house is actually on one of the farthest east streets in Omaha and in Nebraska for that matter.

2. Apparantly it is as amusing as watching a circus side show for people to watch our family with THREE WHOLE KIDS at the grocery store, Target, or a when we go out to eat??!!

3. It can be sunny, then raining, then hailing, and the wind can blow 70 miles an hour all in the span of 10 minutes and it is 85 degrees the entire time!

4. The National Weather Service can issue a tornado watch that will stay in effect for three days and no one is bothered. Apparantly we are not supposed to worry unless we hear the siren or the sky turns green??!! There have been three tornado watches in the last week. Two lasted for 3 days.

5. There are weird bugs here. And weird rodents everywhere. And cool birds. And more weird rodents. And wild turkeys on the freeway (we almost hit one). There are squirrels EVERYWHERE, and groundhogs. And also snakes.

6. It's HOT! Seriously! I know that Utah is hot. Utah is 110 degrees, but that is NOTHING! Here it is 85 degrees but we have 80 percent humidity. It is sticky all of the time. And it makes my kids stink like metal constantly! (Yes metal....other people refer to it as "the outside sweat smell" but my family refers to it as metal) Also, my make up melts off of my face. I can feel it! I wash my face at night and no make up comes off...because there is NONE LEFT!!! But there is a layer of salty paste that used to be make up.

7. We love it here. It's hot, there are strange bugs and people (he he he), weird animals running around, and we have spent the last week in the basement waiting and wondering what our kids will look like in the Lollipop Guild. But we love it. We are having fun and getting to know a lot of new friends that are going to school too. We have been to the zoo three times now and we have seen something different every time. Joseph LOVES school. Not the lecture part, but the part where he goes into the clinic and does some dental assisting on real people with other students. I am glad that he is getting to do what he loves to do. And also, we love our new neighbors Orange Julius. If dental school doesn't work out for him he should become a chef. :)

Here are a few pictures of this week....

Somehow Owen grew up in the last month. Here he is riding the neighbors little car. He LOVES it!! What happened to my baby!!
Yay for sidewalk chalk! They are always so messy and colorful, but they love it!

The new porch swing. Joseph with the boys and Sadie.
These were supposed to be funny faces, but no one is very good at them.
If you look closely on the rock wall you will see our pet Cardinal. It is awesome! It is always outside and the boys love to look for it. We will be eating and all of the sudden Kael will yell "OUR RED BIRD IS BACK!"
Hope everything is going good for everyone! We miss you all!!

I love your new blog! Your pictures are always so cute. I am glad you like it there. We go shopping and go to church in Arizona, it is a little weird living right on the border, and 6 months out of the year we are on a different time zone. Are you guys the same time zone with Iowa?

Owen looks so cute! I love his smile! You have to love the humidity! It is one thing I miss about Utah, the dry heat. Just think you have the whole summer to look forward to! This weekend we are in the 90's and have very high humidity. I hear your pain. Good luck!

I have gotten to the point that I HATE when it rains and I see the clouds darken, I am always checking for tornadoes. BUT, I have learned that you don't worry about the watches, when it turns to a warning that is when you can worry and hide in a closet.. (me and my closet have become good friends this past year!) Also, after a month of living in humidity last summer, I gave up on make-up! It is overrated.. haha! :) Good Luck and have fun! Yor boys are getting so big and cute!

I can't believe how grown up Owen looks. Also I think that you should site the sources of the jokes. I am the one who started saying people smelled like metal after my 8th grade carpool. I will also take credit for the lollipop guild. Anyway we love you and miss you.

I found your blog off of Kristen Bishops, hope you don't mind, but anyways, I am totally glad that you listed those things that are different about Omaha and Utah, but yet somehow it grows on you, I think it is more the people and Village Green then actually the humidity and rodents. Just wait till the later summer/fall when the noisy bugs come, can't remember their name but they just buzz constantly. Good Times!

It is so funny, those are all the things that I noticed that were different from Utah. Sad to say, the humidity isn't bad yet. Wait until August when it is 90's and high humidity!! That is when you just hang out in the pool ALL day long! I am glad you like NE, we love it here! People are so nice! Did you get to see the cool tornado clouds the other night?
