Sunday....not always a day of rest

So yesterday pretty much ended with a bang. Or an explosion, or a disaster.  Not sure which word I want to use to describe it.  Well, maybe I can think of a word, but I'm not sure it would be blog appropriate.  See, I had just finished my last blog post when there was a crash and a scream from the basement.  Joseph and I both ran down the stairs to find a disaster.  See we have a bookcase.  A cheap worthless bookcase from Target.  It used to be about 6 feet tall until around Halloween Kael leaned against it and it completely collapsed in the middle.  So we threw out the bottom two shelves and now it's a short bookcase and I actually like it a lot better.  We apparantly Owen likes it a lot better too.  Except that he doesn't like it as a bookcase as much as he likes it as a stage.  I was unaware of this fact, mostly because he knows if he ever stood on the bookcase when I was downstairs his life would be cut short.  Well I guess he was using the bookcase as a stage last night, and then decided to use the bookcase as a diving board.  He jumped off of the bookcase.  Everything would have been fine except that there was a Scentsy on the top of this same bookcase.  And it was on.  And his foot got caught in the cord when he jumped.  So Owen and the Scentsy both hit the floor and lets just say that the Scentsy pretty much exploded when it hit the floor.  And lets just say that it had BURGUNDY wax in it.  There was burgundy wax all over the carpet, on the corner of the couch, on the weights, and covering the entire right side of Owen's brand new Toy Story pajamas.  The ones that he adored.  It was a terrible moment in the history of our house.  It took A LOT of hot water, a blowdryer, some Oxyclean, and running the pajamas threw the washer twice with hot water and baking soda, but I think that we all survived.  The wax came out of everything except one couch pillow that is done for. But the couch, most of the carpet, and most importantly the Toy Story pajamas are saved.

So that was the adventure of last night.  We all woke up in one piece and were ready to start a new day.  Joseph went to his meetings.  I was up and we were all ready to go to church.  We were feeding the missionaries after church (3 of them now).  I had the roast in to cook and we were ready 20 minutes early!! It was a Christmas miracle!!  So I decided to take some pictures of the kids in the Christmas outfits.

There are 4 group pictures.  None of them are good. Sometimes I want to be mad that it is impossible to get a good picture of everyone together.  But then I realize that it would be a fake picture.  I have decided it's better to capture the true personalities of the kids so someday I can look back at my life and laugh.
Not sure why Owen is GQ and Aidan is posessed, but the other side of the picture is looking good.
Aidan is now smiling at himself in the reflection of the curio cabinet. And there is a Transformer in the picture and who knows what Owen is looking at now.
I have no comment about this one.  Olivia is escaping and all of the boys are proud of her attempts....wishing they had been the first to have the idea.
Sweet Kael.  He is the ONLY one who will smile on command. Even if it is a little cheesy sometimes.
Also....I'm not sure why his sweater is zipped up like he is on the Nordic Ski team. Weird.
This picture pretty much sums up life with Aidan right now.  He is attempting to smile, and act like he doesn't know that he is being goofy.  And now there is a pirate that has joined the Transformer.
I got a smile, but apparantly his brothers were doing something more interesting in the corner.
And he has a Pokemon.
A little bit better.  Although he looks like he might be in pain.
Olivia modeling her pea coat, or pee coat, or "P" coat.  I'm not sure which one it is.
And Olivia in her Christmas dress without her coat.

Well we got home from church after tithing settlement and I went to check on the roast.  I looked at it once and then I looked a little closer.  Now I'm not sure if I was being punished for being a little cocky with the fact that we were ready so early or what, but as I looked at the roast I realized that it wasn't cooking.  The crock pot was turned on low like it should be.  The roast was there with all of it's spices.  Everything was in order except......the crockpot was NOT plugged in to the wall.  SERIOUSLY!! I am supposed to be feeding 3 starving missionaries in 3 hours and I have a completely raw roast.  I freaked out a little bit (or a lot) and called Joseph who was still at the church.  I scoured the cupboards to find something to make them and decided on Taco Soup.  I knew that one serving of it wouldn't feed all of us, but I only had some of the ingredients to double it.  I may have cried.  I may have yelled a little to Joseph.  I may have used our neighbors spare key and looked in their cupboards (Kim....I owe you a can of black beans).  And I still didn't have all of the ingredients.  My sweet husband came to the rescue.  He told the bishop and the ward clerk (who we also still at the church) and within 10 minutes they both brought me the rest of the ingredients.  I have amazing neighbors.  And the missionaries got to eat, so they were happy too.

So things worked out.  Hopefully our Christmas break calms down a little......but I wouldn't bet on it.

That sounds like quite the adventerous Sunday. I had some candle wax melt onto some clothes once too. I ended up using paper towels and an iron to get it out. Glad everything turned out okay and your little guy wasn't hurt.
